Waldkirch Bahnhof → Kandel-Passhöhe

Stage 1

A forested stage with many paths and steep climbs A proud 1,000 meters of elevation gain: The ZweiTälerSteig begins with a real challenge. From the medieval town of Waldkirch, over the ridge to the Glottertal and up to the Kandel, the highest point of the ZweiTälerSteig. But even if the ascent is sometimes steep: the summit is reached faster than you might think.

Simonswald Dorfmitte → Am Wittenbach

Stage 3

Demanding, wooded stage, long ascent to the Hörnleberg Chapel, long stage over Rohrhardsberg and its foothills, steep descent to Wittenbach Rohrhardsberg is the focus of the third day, inconspicuous and wild at the same time. High above the Elz Valley, near Hörnleberg, the first highlight of the day, the ridge walk begins to the highest point of the stage. It then descends over the mountain ridge, which thrusts northward into the course of the Elz like a wedge. At its far end near Kapfhütte, a breathtaking view beckons.

Am Wittenbach → Höhenhäuser

Stage 4

A scenic and varied stage between the Elz and Kinzig valleys, mostly gentle climbs (except for the ascent to Huberfelsen) Two valleys, two landscapes, to the left and right of the Elz. On the one hand—in the eastern section—there is pristine, wild nature. On the other hand—along the ridge to the west—there is a charming cultural landscape, dotted with traditional farmsteads. The transition between the two sides is marked by Landwassereck. The day begins with Huberfelsen and Prechtaler Schanze amid untamed nature, and ends with magnificent forest-edge paths in the midst of gently rolling hills.

Stage 5

Varied stage with exceptionally beautiful and diverse views The fifth stage completes the ZweiTälerSteig. Along the long ridge between the Elz Valley and the Rhine Valley, the ZweiTälerSteig leads from Höhenhäuser down to Waldkirch, where the hiking trail began. The views follow one after another like pearls, each more beautiful than the last. And finally, the Kastelburg, a historic highlight, is also on the program.
